Trump Welcomes Relatives of Attacked Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Background on the Devastating Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.
Presidential Invitation
The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president addressed the press. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Response
Attendees assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support public safety in the capital.
Honoring Beckstrom
“She was the individual that educators wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the media. “She was kind, considerate and always ready to help others.”
Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Steps and Government Changes
Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event caused the administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader the governor said on television.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” he told the crowd at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
