The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The latest action-packed title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and mayhem with similar glee, all while weaving captivating, socially charged tales. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose projects have embodied all of those things.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a fresh location and ensemble in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their steady confidence and backing.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the core of society through this intricate and unpredictable perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, ambitious approach to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
