Spurs Manager Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Fans'
Fulham Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on the Manager
Spurs supporters who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they cannot be real Spurs fans" by manager Thomas Frank.
Spurs conceded two scores in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th Premier League at home loss of the year.
But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's second goal when the keeper lost possession far beyond his box.
The goalkeeper came out to handle a high pass and took the ball near the sideline.
However, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.
King passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.
Seconds later when the ball went to the keeper again, a number of Tottenham supporters booed him.
The team were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and again at full-time.
A particular of those booing sessions truly irritated Frank.
"I heard a few of our fans reportedly jeered the incident and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.
"[They] cannot be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are with one another going forward."
Kenny Tete had given Fulham a early lead prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second period showing.
Former Premier League keeper Hart stated that the next goal was "completely preventable".
"I do appreciate the fans' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He is a great team player, he is a true figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your actions.
"The keeper was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the winning score."
'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game
Italy international Vicario is in his third campaign with Tottenham.
He stated after the match that he had to take the feedback.
"That score was a error of my own, I take responsibility for that," he commented.
"My aim was to kick the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad manner. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."
He stated receiving jeers "comes with football".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "We can't be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.
"It's on the team to remain more calm, to focus on ourselves. The team is lacking in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. This match is a poor defeat and it's hard to take."
'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'
Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an simple goal for Wilson to score.
In fact it was the next most distant Premier League score of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which incidentally also occurred on Saturday.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to target.
10 moments passed between Vicario coming out of his area and the midfielder shooting – which was five seconds following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for ages," he said.
"It amazed me not one of the back four returned to the line. When not one of them defended the net, my eyes sparked a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a bit of additional opportunity. Then it was solely about trying to achieve the correct connection and get it towards goal. I felt a good sense, the moment it left my foot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager
While Vicario's error led headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.
This was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a joint team record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club Brentford and champions the Reds to come before the close of the year.
Just a single of those wins have come since the manager replaced his predecessor in the off-season.
"If you are down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated Frank.
"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to work against you too – the first was a redirected attempt, the second is a mistake from the keeper.
"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we lost in the first six minutes.
"We just need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."
Tottenham have lost four straight home London derbies for the initial time in the Premier League.
Furthermore they are averaging nine point five shots and three point two efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest rates on record in a single season (dating back to 2003-04).
Former Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.
"He's got accept the stick," the pundit said. "He has accepted a prestigious role at a huge football club with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.
"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
