Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his future after a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
