Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the global fight fans had expressed sympathy for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
